Donât Put Out the Onions Yet (Theyâll stink up the whole room)
You’re planning a party and you want it to go off without a hitch, right? The silverware is polished, the food prepared, the decorations put up, and the guests are about to arrive. What could possibly go wrong? But wait, what’s that stench? The onions are stinking up the whole room! Quick, get the air freshener! No, not the pine-scented kitchen cleaner, air freshener! Too late. Now, the room smells like onions and pine infused disinfectant!
No matter what type of party you are hosting, something can – and will – go wrong. Your job is to prevent party disasters and minimize the damage should something go awry. And plenty can go wrong. We’ve compiled a few do’s and don’ts of throwing parties to help you avoid party catastrophes (and stinky rooms).
Party Don’ts
Don’t put out the onions just yet!
Don’t let your dog have free run of the house.
Don’t let your kids have free run of the house either.
Don’t use your heirloom china or crystal no matter how beautiful they are. If you do, breakage WILL occur. Guaranteed.
Don’t start drinking before your guests arrive. Once they do, do so in moderation only. You’ll need your senses about you as the night progresses. On second thought, maybe you SHOULD get drunk. (Not really).
Don’t fret over the little details. So what if you haven’t lit all of the candles yet before your guests arrive. If you forgot something or haven’t had a chance to get to it yet, you’re probably the only one that will notice. On the other hand, if you freak out, everyone will notice.
Don’t turn the music up so loud that no one can carry on conversations.
Party Do’s
Do prepare food ahead of time so that you can enjoy the party instead of being stuck in the kitchen cooking, serving, and cleaning.
Do be aware of food borne illnesses and how to prevent them.
Do have an empty dishwasher ready for stashing dirty dishes.
Do use disposable plates and forks (many elegant looking products have hit the market).
Do hire servers and bartenders for larger parties .
Do make sure that all bathrooms are well stocked with ample toilet paper and supplies.
Do keep your pets offsite or safely locked in a bedroom.
Do hire a babysitter for your kids.
If children are invited to the party, do hire a babysitter or a team of sitters to watch the children and keep them entertained (in a separate area of the house).
Do provide a few vegetarian (and even vegan) dishes as alternatives for your vegetarian friends.
Do direct smokers to designated smoking areas outdoors.
Do monitor alcohol consumption and have a cab company’s phone number handy should a party guest need a safe ride home.
Do have absorbent towels handy for quick spill mitigation (and don’t freak out when a spill occurs. Do a quick cleanup and worry about more thorough cleaning later).
Do place coasters strategically throughout your home, particularly on furniture that you want to enjoy, ring-free, for years to come.
Do play non-offensive background music, preferably by either streaming music from your Internet playlist to your stereo or using a six-CD changer so that you aren’t constantly tending to the music.
Do introduce guests properly to each other by providing a little information about common interests.
Do maintain a healthy sense of humor (you may need it, especially if you don’t heed the advice above).
i got a ticket in new york city for no seat belt as a passenger in my girlfriends car?
i just arrived in Manhattan, a tourist from Florida, riding in my girlfriends car. i had just taken off my seat belt and removed my coat as we came out of the Lincoln tunnel and got pulled over within a block and given a 130$ ticket. i would have thought a warning would have been appropriate. the cop took down my license info and my girls plate. what happens if i don't pay it?
If you don't pay it, NYS will notify Florida. There are only about five states with which New York does not have a reciprocity agreement on traffic tickets, and Florida is one with which they do. According to the Florida DHSMV, they will suspend your license for unpaid tickets in another state. See the last question on this page:
http://www.flhsmv.gov/ddl/faqsuspend.html#11
It's a non-point violation, so while it will appear on your Florida record you won't be assessed any points for it.
Tickets in NYC are handled by the state DMV Traffic Violations Bureau. If you decide to pay, you should be able to do it online even if the ticket doesn't say so. Information is here:
http://www.nysdmv.com/pleadandpay/default.html
Bad timing, really. Ticketing passengers as a primary reason for making a car stop is pretty rare in NYC, but as it happens a new law is just taking effect today changing the age requirements for child safety restraints. To bring attention to that, most police agencies in NYS have been running "click it or ticket" campaigns.
Europe's largest automaker is expected to net Malaysia's national automaker Proton. The latter has seen sales reduced as competition in the Malaysian auto market heats up. With the expansion of operation of the auto industry heavyweights like Toyota in Malaysia, Malaysian car buyers have seemed to move away from Proton. The Malaysian automaker's limited lineup and poor quality of cars pushes customers further away.
In an effort to save the ailing automaker, the Malaysian government has been looking for a major automaker which can help Proton back to profitability. Volkswagen and General Motors are reportedly interested in acquiring the Malaysian automaker. But the Malaysian government clearly favors Volkswagen over General Motors. Talks between the Malaysian government and the largest European automaker has been going on for three years and it is expected that the will reach an agreement before the end of the year - as early as next month.
Recently, Forbes reported that the European automaker is seeking management control over Proton. This is one of the terms that Volkswagen is apparently pushing to the Malaysian government. If the Malaysian government gives consent to the European automaker, the latter will be in charge of one of the managerial functions. Volkswagen will be the one overseeing action by setting standards or goals, measuring actual performance of the company and taking corrective actions if goals are not met.
Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi who is also the financial minister according to Forbes said that the German automaker is looking for that managerial function. "They have been discussing about it but we have not yet decided on that," he said. Abdullah also said that they are looking to sign a deal with the German automaker soon but they will not be pushing Volkswagen to take immediate actions. "We want to have this decision as soon as possible but they have to take time. I cannot force them to hurry up," he added.
Forbes also reported that a certain finance ministry official commented that they are expecting to have the deal closed as early as next month. "Malaysia is trying to settle it by November. This is what they intend to do," said the official. There have also been reports that Volkswagen is close to acquiring 20 percent of Proton's share.
Malaysia's The Edge reported that: "Volkswagen is also seeking management control and will require the government to underwrite any losses at Proton for at least three years." This means that Volkswagen is being careful with their deal with the struggling automaker. With that cushion, they are protected if their first years with Proton prove to be unsuccessful.
But with the involvement of Volkswagen with Proton affecting the Malaysian automaker positively, can be expected that Volkswagen can make money with the Malaysian automaker. When the third round of talks between the Malaysian government and the German automaker was held, the value of Proton stocks has increased.
Under the agreement, it is expected that Volkswagen will be marketing Proton vehicles on the global auto market. The Malaysian automaker is now gaining popularity as it is hooked up with the German automaker. It is also expected that VW Head Gasket -equipped Volkswagen vehicles will be sold by Proton in Malaysia where they already have a strong dealership base.

Volvoâs Safety Inside, Safety Outside Gives C70 Top Safety Pick Award
The Volvo C70 was recently given the Top Safety Pick award by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The C70 is Volvo’s entry into the convertible segment of the auto market. The IIHS gave the distinction to the C70 because of its good scores in front, rear, and side crash tests. The convertible is also equipped with an electronic stability program (ESP) which is a requirement for a vehicle to be given the Top Safety Pick distinction.
The award was made possible by Volvo’s dedication to building safe cars under their Safety Inside, Safety Outside policy. The said strategy made the C70 an exemplary vehicle in terms of safety. Since its introduction in the U.S market in 2006, the convertible has already set the standard in vehicle safety. It is loaded with safety features designed specially for a convertible. This host of safety features includes the Inflatable Curtain which is designed to protect the occupants of the vehicle in cases of side collisions.
The Safety Inside strategy used by Volvo in the C70 includes safety features designed to protect the vehicle’s occupants during crashes. The Inflatable Curtain (IC) is the most notable Safety Inside feature that the C70 boasts of. The side curtain airbags are mounted on the door since placing it on the roof panel is impractical and the side curtain airbags will be useless once the roof is lowered.
According to Volvo, the IC can adequately protect the upper extremities of a human body. It is also designed to deflate slowly as an added protection to the occupants of the vehicle should the vehicle roll over.
Front seat passengers are also protected with side curtain airbags which is designed to cover the hip and chest areas of the person sitting in the front passenger seat. The side impact airbags complements the pretensioner seatbelts. All four seats of the C70 are equipped with pretensioning seatbelts.
As far as Safety Outside is concerned, the C70 is designed with the same car architecture as the S40. The Volvo C70 is built with different grades of steel to maximize the amount of energy to be absorbed during collisions. The effectiveness of this vehicle architecture technology is proven by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety when it gave the C70 a “good†rating in frontal crash protection.
Not only is the Volvo C70 safe from front collision, it is also designed to protect its occupants properly in cases of rear collision. According to Volvo, the C70 is equipped with a large horseshoe-shaped member found directly behind the rear seats. This component according to the Swedish car manufacturer is responsible in absorbing the impact from rear collision.
To increase the protection of the occupants of the C70 in cases of rear end collision, the C70 is equipped with the Rollover Protection System popup bars. These are deployed behind the head of the passengers and the drivers. The aim of this safety feature is to protect the occupants from being hit by flying objects from the rear of the car.
These safety features complements the various engine and other automotive system components such as the Volvo valve cover gasket to make the C70 a strong competitor in its segment.

Jet Ski and Sea Doo are two brand names that have become generic names for stand-up and sit-down personal Water Craft (PWC) respectively. But just like any other story, these two have their own stories which are closely related to each other. As you are familiar with the names today, Jet Ski is manufactured by Kawasaki while Sea Doo is manufactured by Bombardier.
Here is the brief story:
During the mid-60's, Bombardier started a project that would create and market a personal water craft. The company lunched its first sit-down model in 1968 with the name Sea-Doo. During that time, the company already had an established market on the snowmobiles. Here, the name Sea-Doo is an altered version of the Ski-Doo (Bombardier's brand for snowmobiles). Unfortunately, the company has pooled out the Sea-Doo from the market in 1970 just before the new line of Sea-Doo will be released.
This was because there are several problems on the design for the water craft that could not be answered during that time. Technology was insufficient then and to solve the problem means spending a lot of money and engineering, which Bombardier could not afford since the Ski-Doo was so hot in the market.
Meanwhile, as Bombardier discontinued the Ski-Doo, Kawasaki become very aggressive in developing this personal water craft.
On the early part of the 70's Clayton Jacobson II, the man who gave a lot of inspiration to the Bombardier in term of design and personal water craft specifications, sold the rights to his patent to Kawasaki. This deal gave birth to the Jet Ski.
The Kawasaki Jet Ski was released with a little promise and gave only several hundred sold units. However, in the 80's, the Jet Ski sales skyrocketed and sold several thousands. Here, the name "Jet Ski" has become the generic name for stand-up personal water craft.
The Bombardier had responded with the rebirth of the Sea-Doo. It did not intend to capture the market of the Jet Ski. Instead, Sea-Doo created a personal water craft that could be used by anyone (since they thought that the Jet Ski was only for athletic people). Bombardier had created Sea-Doo as a sit-down personal water craft. The design of the second generation of Sea-Doo may not be very different from its predecessor but it has already overcome their original problems.
Today, Sea-Doo and Jet Ski are two major manufacturers of personal water crafts and have eared the name on their own.

I need help before buying a jet ski!?
I've never boughten a boat or jet ski before & i'm not sure what to look for if its a good deal or not. For instance, there is one thats $2k, its a 97' Sea Doo Bombardier SP jet ski (what does that mean), appearantly it doesn't have an hour gage so he doesn't know how many hours are on it, I asked to have a mechanic look at it and he said he didn't have the time to do that because he needs to sell it fast & has lots of offers on it (well I ain't dumb with the whole "lots" of people interested, i've pulled that one before). I guess I just need to know what to expect, is this a good deal (also comes with a trailer), anything wrong with this model? Is 10 years too old? and do the single ski trailers have a 4 way flat that work with a 2 inch ball (thats what my truck has. Here is the site: http://seattle.craigslist.org/sno/boa/33...
thanks!
Slooow dowwwn. I t sounds like you don't have much experience with Jet Skis. Step one is to figure out what you like. Go hit the beach, check some skis out, maybe rent a couple. PWC are very unique, and each one is different. Some are small and nimble, some are large and stable. Everyone rides differently, too. Some people like to ride solo, some two-up.
To answer your specific questions: 2k for a 97 sp with trailer isn't a smoking deal, and it isn't that great a ski. Being a newbie, don't even think of buyiong one without taking it to a mechanic, 10 years isn't too old, and 2 inch balls and four pin flats are pretty standard. Good Luck!

Does anybody know how to rebuild these kind of batteries ?
Does anybody know how to rebuild these kind of batteries ? I understand they have to be professionally done or they will not work long or well.Of my 3 Ryobi 18v batterys 2 have quit working and the 3rd is failing. I have found some Interstate Battery replacements and reviewers say they will last longer but they are $75.00 a pop ! Other ones are $40.00 to $50.00. For that kind of cash I can just buy the Ryobi batt's at Home Depot,2 for about $45.00 but they will only last about a couple of years.
I've got cordless tools from Ryobi, Sears, Dewalt, B&D, and Panasonic. Many of the higher end tools like my Panasonic and Dewalt tools have very expensive batteries, and an off-brand replacement or rebuilding might make sense if it isn't too expensive. For tools like the Ryobis though, the batteries are so cheap (often on sale for $40/2), that for me it isn't worth my time to rebuild them. I just buy new batteries every couple of years. My original two Ryobi batteries lasted around 3-4 years before I disposed of them, and the four batteries I currently have I bought 2-3 years ago IIRC, and three of them are still performing well, I'll probably buy a new pair of the 18V Ryobi batteries next year for $40-45. I use one of my Ryobi batteries every day at work (drain it 80-90% down) for 4-5 months of the year, so they see moderately heavy use. I'm just glad the Ryobi batteries are so inexpensive, the Dewalt batteries I need cost 2x-3x as much. IMO a new pair of batteries every two years for $40-45 isn't bad at all. If you want longer battery life and better performance, you can buy the Ryobi li-on batteries which are backwards compatible, but they need a different charger and are much more expensive.
I've been to online stores www.battery-replacement.org and the regular batt's are now 2 for $50.00 and the Lion batt. (1) and charger kit is $120.00 So for the money I'll probably buy the 2 for $50.00 regular batt's.Btw I like your sig line that is a funny movie. It's full of funny physical and sight gags

Like I said, I have a 2001 Honda CR125R, and I'm doing a Top End Rebuild on it and I'm going to buy an hour meter for it to record hours between oil changes, plug changes, piston changes, etc. My manual says I should replace the piston and rings and stuff every 7.5 hours, and I don't race it and don't abuse it barely. This seems like way too soon to change it, and I've been told by mechanics before that every 40-50 hours would be fine. I read an article in Dirt Rider magazine about an '06 cr125 that had a 144cc big bore kit in it, and it was raced whenever it was riddin and riddin hard, and they didn't change the top end and piston until around 38 hours on it. My question is what's the average amount of hours between piston changes for my bike? Like I said, the manual says 7.5 hours, but they probably think it's wide open and being raced all the time too. So I want to know how often you change yours or what you've been told and all. Any input and help is much appreciated!! Thank you!!
i have the exact same bike and im a mechanical engineer.. the 7.5 hour piston cjance is for top top top performance and it is not necessary. especially if you put in enough of a good oil. if im going for off road or enduro, i will use 2.5% oil to avoid plug fouling, and when i go to a motocross track, and can really open it up, i go for the 3.0% or maybe 2.8%. i change my piston every 50 hours or so depending on how hard i drive it. if your going for a put around some forest trail, count half the hours or none. going to a track to open it up? count them. remember this bike was built to be opened up. its a racing bike. one of the more important things is to use a good quality oil. not necessarily a fully synthetic, many semi-synthetics are also very good. try to get some motul 600. its a good all around oil.. if your going to take it to a track and abuse it, use motul 800. its a heavier oil with better filming properties but can cause more fouling, so best used with hard driving. also, before you start out, WARM IT UP FOR A MINUTE. or two!! it warms up the piston a bit so it expands and seals with the cylinder better. i do an oil change every 10 hours, but some call me picky. it should never go dark from clutch deposits.. it good to clean the RC valve even if u dont change the piston. its in the book and you dont have to take the cylinder off to do it, and it makes a big difference. any specific questions?? email at jason_papadakis@yahoo.com . sorry for the long awnser, i get carried away.enjoy your bike!

Have you ever heard about sand painting? Sand painting is a rediscovered craft that has its origin in the greatest deserts of the world.
What you need to do while sand painting?
• Empty jars or containers
• Powdered tempera paints in a variety of colors
• Clean sand from a beach
• Paper, plastic, glue and popsicle stick
• Plastic spoon and a plastic tray
Steps to follow while sand painting
• Draw out any picture on paper. It would be advisable if you keep the picture as simple as possible.
• Once you are done with the drawing pour out some sand into an empty container.
• Select a color of powdered tempera and add just a little to dry the sand.
• If you need more vibrant colors you need to add more tempera to the sand.
• Once you are done with the color mixing part you can begin your sand painting.
• You need to paint one section at a time. First decide where the color is going, put an even layer of glue on the paper and pour some colored sand on to the glue using a plastic spoon.
• Repeat the above point until the entire paper is covered.
• Now that everything is done allow the sand painting to dry.
One of the most effective images to paint on sand would be landscape painting.
Sand painting is a peculiar form of art which is not so popular as compared to the other painting types. If you wish to learn the art of sand painting you could try on a sand painting book. There are number of online book stores that offer sand painting book for beginners as well as professional. This book contains step by step guidance and helps you to learn the art better.

I'm sure that we've all seen people trying to learn how to water-ski They crash everytime the boats starts to go, while their friends in the boat grow more and more exasperated. After you see this, you think "no way" when one your children says that he wants to learn how to water-ski. Actually, teaching your children to water-ski is a fantastic way to get your children more interested in the family boat. The steps that I'm about to discribe should cut down on the exasperation and provide a much simpler, tear- free course for teaching children to ski. My brother and I learned using these procedures, I taught my 10 year old son using these procedures, so I know they are valid.
One of the first things to think about is the boat itself. A 200hp boat can be very scary for the kids. I leaned to ski behind a 14' boat that had a 50hp outboard motor and to me that was very scary. A 12' boat with a 35hp outboard motor is probably big enough. I've even seen photos of people water-skiing behind a jet-ski.
The actual procedure for teaching your ski can be broken down into two parts with several steps in each part.
One of the first considerations is the boat. You have to put yourself in the child's place. A 200 hp boat can be very intimidating to the child. My dad taught me behind a 14' boat powered by a 50 hp outboard motor, but to me it looked like the Titanic. A 12' boat with a 35 hp engine is probably big enough. I've even seen pictures of people skiing behind a jet-ski.

Part I Training
1.) The first step of my course eliminates the boat altogether and therefore the intimidation factor. The child should be in shallow water, close to shore. The average ski rope is about 200 ft. long, so at least two adults (more is even better) should hold one end on the shore while the rest of the rope is stretched out into the water to the child.
2.) For the child, one of the hardest parts of skiing is learning to control the skis while sitting in the water. For this step, an adult should get in the water to help the child get the skis on and help hold the skis up until the launch takes place.
The adult helping the child should probably wear a Life Jacket too, even if he is a good swimmer. He will be busy helping the child, so he shouldn't have to worry about keeping his head above the water.
3.) Once the child has his skis ready, then the adults on the shore should pull the rope taunt and get ready to run. At this point, it is important to impress upon the child that he is in control. The pullers don't go until the child screams for them to run.
4.) Once he is stable, the child should yell at the adults onshore to run! The child should be told that after he starts moving, he should pull the tails of his skis up towards his bottom. Then, he should be told that after he pulls up the tails of his skis, he should stand up. At this point, it should be easy to stand up because of the pull on the rope. This pull will tend to make the child lean forward, which should make it easy to stand.
5.) The child should be pulled ashore several times. There is no substitute for experience . I remember being pulled into shore as being a lot of fun!
6.) On the last few pulls, the child should be instructed in making simple turns away from the centerline of the pull. The child should be told that if he puts more of his weight on the left ski, he'll turn to the right. Conversely. if he puts more of his weight on the right ski, he will turn toward the left. These turning skills will be necessary when being pulled behind the boat.
Part II The Moment of Truth
Before the first tow with the boat, the child and the boat driver should talk about what is going to happen. At this time, the child will be very nervous, so it is important that he feels like he is in complete control of the situation. The main source of his nervousness will be the fear that he doesn't have control over the boat.
1.) The first tow behind the boat should start with the child once again in shallow water with an adult helping him to get set. This first trip behind the boat should be planned out extensively by the child and the driver. I would suggest that they plan a small circle with the boat slowing down and stopping at its starting place. This will allow the child to slowly sink back into the water while still holding onto the rope. I've seen a lot of people crash after letting go of the rope.
2.) The child and the driver should have a pre-arranged signal in case the child wants to keep going. This signal could be as simple as pointing one thumb up while holding on to the rope.
A few other tips for the first tow:
The child should be instucted to stay behind the boat, so he stays inside the wake where the waves won't be so bad. The boat doesn't really cut down the waves very much, but if you tell the child that it does, it will help him relax.
b) The driver and the observer should be the only ones in the boat so it makes the smallest waves possible.
c) Ski in the morning when the water is at its smoothest.
The above techniques could be used with a small adult also, but you may need more bodies for pulling on the rope. If you use these techniques with children, you and your children will have far less frustration and far fewer tears on the part of the kids. The best part is; once you teach them to ski they will be anxious to go on family boat trips. They might even wash the boat!

You've chosen the engagement ring of your dreams as well as the person of your dreams, now you have to choose a ring that compliments these choices. Selecting a wedding ring that matches your style and tells the world..."I'm taken and this rings proves it!" is no easy task. Especially since there are so many different choices for wedding rings today. To add to the challenge is the need to find a ring that looks just as beautiful as your engagement ring.
For the Gals
Once you've received your engagement ring you'll have much time to stare and daydream about a wedding band as equally beautiful as the ring he professed his love for you with. Our experience tells us that brides are very concerned about finding a perfect match and won't settle for anything that will detract or overpower the engagement ring. So it is crucial that a ring is chosen that has similar design elements as your engagement ring and fits nicely against it. Today's engagement ring designs can be quite elaborate which is great but it creates the problem of finding a nicely matched engagement ring. Unfortunately many jewelers don't have matching wedding rings available for their engagement rings although, you should always check with the jeweler your ring came from first to see if they have one available. What we've seen most is the difficulty in finding a ring that looks like it was made for your engagement ring and while not having spaces between the wedding band and the engagement ring. There are 3 approaches to solving these problems when choosing your wedding ring.
First Approach - Choosing a band that looks good with your ring but not alone
If you've received a ring that has multiple diamonds or has an intricate and unique design you may have experienced a problem finding a band. In an effort to get your wedding ring to fit together you may choose a contoured ring, or a wrap. A contoured ring is a band that has been specially designed to gently curve to the contoured profiles of today's most popular engagement ring styles. Unfortunately, a contoured ring will not look good on its own and if you plan on wearing your wedding ring on it's own you may be displeased with the way it looks by itself. If you are most concerned about a perfect fit against your engagement ring and won't wear the wedding band alone then a contoured ring may be best for you.
If you have a solitaire engagement ring and you would like to spruce it up with your wedding ring then a wrap could be great. A wrap is designed to fit nicely around your diamond and over the top of the sides of your ring. Most designs have a series of diamond or gemstone accents set with rounds, princess cuts and baguettes. There are many choices to choose from and most people are successful at choosing a wrap that works will with their ring. There are 2 important things to consider with a wrap; most wraps won't fit perfectly out of the case, and wraps can't be worn by themselves. With slight adjustments to the wrap most of them will fit nicely on your engagement ring. Make sure you choose a jeweler who has a skilled jeweler in house to do the work for you.
Second Approach - Choosing a band that looks great alone but does not have an exact fit
Some solitaires have an area on the side where the head meets the ring that protrudes out and prevents the wedding ring from resting against the engagement setting. If you choose a traditional straight band because you want to wear it alone you may have problems with the band hitting against the head. This will create spacing and between both ring and you may become annoyed with that. It's a trade off at this point, you'll have to decide what is more important to you and only you can make that decision. You can circumvent that by choosing a wedding ring that has a low profile to it and allow for the wedding ring to rest slightly below the head minimizing spacing. Channel bands are a great choice in this situation because they generally have a low profile to allow for a proper fit. A channel band also looks fantastic when worn alone.
Third Approach - When all else fails make a custom ring
In some situations you'll never find a wedding band that looks good with your engagement ring. When this happens some people elect to have a custom designed wedding ring made. Custom work allows you to have a say in what the wedding ring will look like and ca give you the best of all worlds. Most custom work begins with you describing to a jeweler what it is that you want out of a wedding ring. You then have the opportunity to share the things that you like about your engagement ring and the jeweler can explain to you how he will compliment those features on your ring. Some jewelers will sketch a concept for you then create a prototype to see as a wax model. More advanced jewelers will use a computer aided design tool to create an image for you to see on a computer screen. The wax model will demonstrate the fit and accuracy of the wedding ring with your engagement ring. It can also be altered with great ease and without incurring added costs. You should be very careful when choosing a jeweler to make you a custom ring because as with any craft there are skilled experts and there are hacks. There is nothing worse than investing hard earned money on something that is poorly made or that improperly interprets your desires. A good rule of thumb is to ask to see a portfolio of the jewelers work or ask to speak to the goldsmith personally to get a feeling of his aptitude for custom work.
For the Guys
Men are not used to wearing rings or jewelry for that matter so the thought of wearing a wedding ring scares them. For some men it is uncomfortable and other men are concerned the ring may look girly or not masculine enough. If careful consideration takes place there should be no problem in finding a wedding ring that works with your active lifestyle and fits with your personality. Today there is a wide array of metals choices and styles available and you are sure to find a wedding ring that will satisfy all your needs.
One option you may consider is ordering your ring with a comfort fit. This will provide a soft smooth feel when wearing the ring while making the ring more durable. Creating a slight dome using metal on the inside of the ring where the finger is placed forms a comfort fit. This dome softens the edges of the ring so nothing digs into the finger; it also prevents much of the metal on the inside of the ring from coming in contact with the finger.
Your lifestyle should be taken in account when choosing a metal type for your wedding ring. If you work with your hands and don't plan on taking your ring off then you may choose the harder metals available like titanium or tungsten. Titanium is very lightweight, comfortable to wear and holds up well over time. Tungsten is the hardest metal on the planet and is basically scratch proof. The finish should also be considered when finalizing your decision; most wedding ring styles are available in multiple finishes. Some finishes hold up better than others under harsh conditions. A heavy brush or stone finish will show less wear and most scratches will not be easily seen. On the other hand a satin finish or a sand blasted finish will highlight even the smallest of scratches. Have your jeweler demonstrate the different finishes to you before you make your final decision.
If you don't work with your hands or you don't think you'll damage the ring then you make want to consider some of the more precious metals available. White gold, yellow gold, platinum, and palladium offer a much richer look than the hard metals. You'll also find a much greater selection of wedding ring styles to choose from in the precious metal family because they are more malleable and easier to craft. You'll also have the added benefit of owning a ring that is more valuable because of the precious metal content.
Take care when selecting the finger size to order your wedding ring in. Many people lose their wedding rings in the ocean while on their honeymoon. This occurs because men are not used to wearing rings so they go with a more loose fit because they think it will feel more comfortable. The ring is too big and then it slips off in the surf. The truth is that a ring will bother you less when it fits more snug then when it is too big. When the ring is too big it will constantly be turning on your finger and this will bother you. If the ring is snug you will notice less turning and the snug fit will prevent you from loosing it. To determine the proper finger size use a ring sizer that is the same width as the ring you are ordering. If you use a finger sizer that is 2.5mm wide and your wedding ring is 7mm there will be a difference in the type of fit. This will cause you to pick an incorrect finger size. Remember that a little tighter is always better than a littler looser.

Can i select a part of a song for my ring tone rather than have it start at the beginning?
I have a Sony Ericsson W890i phone and can bluetooth songs to it from my laptop using itunes etc. Is there a program that allows me to 'crop' songs so I can have, for example, the middle part of a song as my ring tone, rather than the beginning?
http://www.ventones.com
its all you need. you just go to that site and upload the song
and they will let you do the cropping online on their site. its easier
because there is no downloading. its done online and its safe and free.
i have been using it for years on my $750 Nokia N97.
