Lexus RX 400h Hybrid Exterior and Interior Overview
When looking at the exterior of the Lexus RX 400h Hybrid, most people see a middle sized hybrid version of the popular RX 350 SUV. Of course this makes sense because it basically is the RX 350 SUV with a different engine. What you find on the outside of the 350 you find on the Lexus RX 400h Hybrid. The Lexus RX 400h Hybrid is just more fuel-efficient with its dual electric motors in addition to the gasoline one.
Both vehicles are elegantly styled, and share the same dimensions. There are a couple of differences, like the front grills and round fog lights. The tail lights are different, and the outside paint job comes in a larger variety of colors which are brushed and includes aluminum interior accents instead of the wood trim that is reminiscent of the regular SUV version. The 2006 was noticeably different in that it had wood trim that was called Bird's Eye Maple.
As mentioned before, the 2008 edition includes changes to the exterior such as chrome door handles, revised front grille, and rear spoiler. And don't forget the new 18 inch wheels. Is it enough to attract new customers? Yup. This vehicle is sleek, aerodynamic with a raked windshield and sloping roofline. The whole vehicle has been put together seamlessly and it's assuredly one of the best assembly jobs Toyota has done in a long time.
People who like the outside will love the inside and it's pretty natural to expect only top quality in the cabin. It's spacious and the buyers love it. The cabin can seat five and looks entirely different from the standard RX 350. It makes a statement, claiming its own identity in the SUV world. The driver's and passenger's front seats are well-padded - cushy comes to mind - and everything is well in the driver's reach along the front console. The gauges are easy to read and the wood trim tops it all off. And there is a touch screen information display that gives the driver immediate access to amount of gasoline left, how much charge is in the battery, oil life, tire pressure, and more. This kind of information has become fairly standard on all SUV's, hybrids or not.
The rear seats are just as cushy with plenty of headroom and legroom for taller passengers. There is nothing worse than cracking your skull on the roof whenever you climb in and out of a vehicle. Okay, feeling like a pretzel is worse. The seats have a 40/20/40 configuration which means they can be split and fold down to increase the cargo space. The cargo space isn't the Grand Canyon, but it can hold quite a bit and with both passenger seats folded down, you get 85 cubic feet that can also be reached by the tailgate. There is no third row seat and Toyota's other popular SUV, the Highlander, is the same way. Many of the competitor's vehicles offer an optional third row seat that can be folded down to make cargo space.
The front seats are powered and can move in ten different directions. There are dual climate controls, steering wheel controls, and a six-CD changer with an eight speaker radio system. The second row seats slide and recline. Additional ala carte options include power-tilt steering, sunroof, driver seat memory, leather upholstery, back-up camera, navigations, audio package and rear-seat DVD. Just think how quiet the children will be on that long trip or how nice it will be to shuffle the CDs without having to fumble for the case.

Green Concept Cars You Might Be Driving in the Next Five Years
With the price of gas steadily climbing around the country, more and more drivers are looking forward to the next wave of cars that will look great, serve their needs, and save them money at the pump (or take them away from the pump). At auto shows around the country this past year, more and more auto makers were showing concept cars that were green, ones that used little to no gas. Here are a few of those cars that you may be driving in the next five years.
Mazda Nagare
Offering a sleek style and futuristic look, the Mazda Nagare features gull-wing doors that open up to reveal space inside for four passengers, with the driver sitting front and center, and three passengers sitting in the rear lounge style seat. While Mazda hasn't confirmed exactly what type of drive-train will be used on the Nagare, they have said that it could use a hydrogen-powered rotary engine. No time table or production numbers have yet been given for the Nagare, as Mazda is currently using it mostly as a design experiment.
Daihatsu UFE-III
A third generation concept from the Tokyo auto show, the UFE-III features three seats (a 1 + 2 configuration), and an aerodynamic body that is part of the root of its fuel economy. Powered by a diminutive 660cc Atkinson 3 cylinder engine and two electric motors, the UFE-III has a fuel economy of 203 miles per gallon. It's unclear if this car will ever be seen in the United States, but the design and fuel economy are exactly that US drivers are currently looking for.
GM Saab Aero X
Taking a cue from their aviation roots, Saab has created a concept car without traditional doors, instead opting for a canopy opening similar to what one would find on a fighter jet. This two seater is made from lighter materials to help with fuel economy, and uses ethanol instead of standard gasoline to fuel its 400-hp twin turbo V6 engine. No word on when or if this car will ever see production, but more than one car enthusiast is already drooling over the possibility.
Volvo 3CC
Featuring an electric powertrain that can quietly propel the car to a top speed of 85mph, the Volvo 3CC is what many drivers are starting to look forward to - a car that doesn't rely on gasoline. Initially designed with 3 seats (2 in the front, one in the back), the current design is offering a more traditional four seat layout, while maintaining the futuristic look of many concept cars, including upswing doors for easy entrance. Included in this concept car, are added safety features such as steering wheel, instrument panel, and foot pedals that all shift forward during a collision to reduce impact.
Ford Airstream
Taking a page from the classic airstream trailers, the Ford Airstream pays homage with its classic colors and body design, all the while offering a family car for the next century. Powered by an electric fuel cell that gets the equivalent of 41 miles per gallon, the Ford Airstream can travel 25 miles before the fuel cells kick in to recharge the lithium ion batteries that give power to operate the car. With a screen for entertaining and setting the mood inside the car, this is a family vehicle that looks great and is great for the environment. Ford hasn't said whether you'll be able to find this at your local dealership yet (be that a Kansas Ford dealership or someplace in California), but with the demand for family vehicles that are environmentally friendly, be on the lookout for it in the near future.
Toyota FT-HS
A sports car for the next century, the Toyota FT-HS features seating for between two and four passengers (depending on whether or not the roof is retracted), and 400-hp or engine output from its Hybrid Synergy Drive. With a dedicated drivers cockpit that has all of the instruments and readings necessary centered on the driver, this sports car features sleek lines to help reduce drag and increase fuel efficiency. Toyota hasn't said when or if the FT-HS will see production, but do keep an eye out for some of its features to start appearing in Scions.
Honda FCX
One of the closer vehicles to seeing production, the Honda FCX features a fuel cell system, but that's only the start of what makes this concept so impressive. Speed sensitive adjusting instrument panels move according to speed to be more effective, biometric systems adjust the mirrors, wheel, and pedals to your settings as you approach the vehicle, and line of sight operated switches allow you to control things like audio and air conditioning without removing your hands from the wheel. All of this, coupled with a spacious interior made from new-age light-weight materials and you have a vehicle that provides 21st century technology and green efficiency into a vehicle that suits the needs of most drivers.
Chevrolet Volt
Looking to see production in 2010, the Chevy Volt drew rave reviews at the most recent car shows due to its design and E-Flex propulsion system that utilizes a combination of plug-in electricity and gasoline to provide a car that can attain an estimated 640 miles on a single tank of gas. All of this on a car that is rumored to range in price from $20,000 to $35,000.
With most people commuting less than 40 miles, Chevy designed the Volt to travel up to 40 miles without using a single drop of gas, and then using gas only to recharge the batteries that actually move the wheels. With space for five and a futuristic design that is both appealing and aerodynamic, the Volt is well on its way to being the first of many vehicles that are environmentally friendly and stylish at the same time.

Every year more and more manufacturers are offering concept cars that are stylish, spacious, and fuel efficient to a more and more demanding public. While this is certainly not a comprehensive list of green concept cars, there will certainly be more shown in the years to come.

Moving 2 Hrs away with a guinea pig?
I am moving on Sat and I have to move my guinea pig with me. We will be towing a trailer with our truck. I also have 2 cats moving with us and since our truck is only a 3 seater i have no room for everyone. I think i may take the 2 cats in the truck with us. Any suggestions for my Guinea? I was thinking i could put him in a smaller box (his cage is huge) and take up with us OR will be be okay if i leave him in his cage and put him in the trailer in the back?
just put him in the trailer in the back and make sure he stays warm and make sure his water bottle is full and he has a dish of pellets and he should be just fine although you may want to cover the cage with a sheet or something to provide him with security but leave enough space for some air supply lol

The correct propeller is important for the optimum performance of the boat. The size of the prop, the style of the propeller and the maximum horsepower that the boat propeller will give in water are points to consider when comparing boat propellers. The propeller must also meet the unique needs and desires of the boater. The propeller will have to match the RPM requirements specified by the manual of the boat engine.
The first consideration when comparing boat props is size (i.e. diameter of the prop). The diameter and pitch should suit the needs of the boat and the configuration of the boat engine. The pitch should give optimum performance for the RPM of the propeller. Some boats may require a large diameter and low pitch while others may require a high pitch but a small diameter. After ascertaining the size requirements, boaters can select among the different props available for the configuration.
The number of blades of the prop is a second consideration. Four blade props give better performance fuel economy, better lift for the boat and grip on water. They give better speed for large boats on slow water. Three blade props give better Top End speed and they are the ideal props for racing. If the use of the boat changes and an upgrade is required from a three to a four blade prop, the four blade prop should be purchased at the same cost.
The material out of which the prop is made is the next most important factor. Most props are made of either Stainless Steel or aluminum. Stainless steel gives good performance and is non corrosive. The only drawback is that when stainless steel props collide with an obstacle, the jolt resonates and damages the motor. Aluminum is lightweight and corrodes in salt water. When an aluminum prop hits an obstacle it breaks but prevents damage to the engine. Composite props give good performance and are inexpensive.
The engine of the boat is an important consideration. The prop should be purchased to suit the manufacture of the engine, the horsepower of the engine, the model and the year when the engine was made. The manual of the engine is a good guide for comparing props.
The price is an important factor in purchasing a prop. Good props are available at discount rates. The internet has many websites which offer discounted props. All types of props are available at affordable rates for all types of engines. The propeller should give optimum performance. An expensive prop is not necessarily the best propeller.
If the boater is looking for a spare emergency prop, weight should be considered. Aluminum props weigh much less than stainless steel props. Plastic props have become popular as emergency props. However, aluminum props can be repaired while plastic props cannot be repaired if they break during a collision.
The type of boat is a factor to consider. Fishing boats, cruisers, pontoons and other boats used on slow water may require a different type of prop while speed boats and boats that ply on the high seas require a different type of prop. About the Author

The wiper assembly of Saturn vehicle goes undoubted with its capacity to wipe out all the dirt and other elements that may pose as a distraction to the driving focus of a motorist. But there can be no denying that there are mucks and gunks that are hard to be “squeegeed” as it is stuck along the windshield that even the wiper cannot get to rid off. Taking the time to wipe it off with a soap solution or, most of the time, tap water can still be consuming especially on a tight scheduled appointment or outing. Instead, a windshield washer fluid may do a better job.
This washer fluid is stored in a washer reservoir where it is stored. The one that squirts it out is the Saturn Washer Pump, located at the outer side of the windshield. But this squirting can be regulated by an electric motor, that is running independently or integrated with the windshield wiper motor. Located at the base of the windshield fluid reservoir, the Saturn Washer Pump jets out the rinsing fluid to somewhat “lubricate” the windhield wiping operation. It is composed of an impeller and usually a cylindrical casing with a fluid inlet. This inlet is defined in an annular end wall, while the fluid outlet is defined in opposition to the fluid inlet. This washer pump is installed to the wall of the fluid tank with the fluid inlet inside the fluid tank. Its casing is formed with a partition wall which is positioned on one side of the annular end wall to define a pumpchamber between the annular wall and the partition wall for freely accommodating the impeller. Also comprising the Saturn Washer Pump is a fluid passage, which communicates the pump chamber and the fluid outlet for a discharge of the fluid medium under pressure during a rotation of the impeller, a filter member having a perforated region a diameter greater than the bore size of the fluid inlet positioned exteriorly of the fluid inlet with the perforated region aligned with the fluid inlet, and a filter holder for detachably securing the filter member to the second end of the casing.
There will usually be at least one outlet delivered on to the pump housing for squirting out the fluid pumped from the reservoir. There is a fluid level sensor is mounted in the housing and has a sensing end, projecting into the reservoir. The sensor includes a pair of spaced sensors having the sensing ends exposed to fluid within the reservoir. The sensor has a labyrinth shape adjacent to the sensing ends.
It may seem that the Saturn washer pump may be simple in structure, but it performs an integral role for the washer fluid to come out and aid the wiper in wiping off the dirt that is stuck along the surface of the windshield. Such nifty feature costs almost inexpensive to manufacture and easy to install.

Propane Conversion Kits For Cars Will Save You Money While Driving Green!
Using a propane conversion kit for your auto is not something new. People have converting gasoline engines to run on propane for many years. Today with the price gasoline skyrocketing, it is only natural to see the increase interest in alternative fuels. Forklifts and other heavy duty vehicle having been widely using propane but it is certainly adaptable to the home auto. If you search the web for propane kits for cars, you will find there are widely available profession propane conversion kits. If you like to tinker around your car, you could also convert your gasoline engine to propane by yourself. You only need to have a few key pieces to do the conversion.
Before I jump in with my propane conversion, will I really save on gasoline? How many MPG can I expect after the conversion? Propane by its nature has a bout 10% less BTU's than gasoline. What this means is the car running on propane will get pretty close to what the auto manufacture list as miles per gallon on gasoline. Propane today sells for around $2.00 - $2.25 a gallon compared to gasoline at $3.79 a gallon. Do the math. Even if you lose 10% of your mileage, the cost benefit of propane is a no brainer.
Propane burns cleaner than gasoline. This in term means your engine will be cleaner than if you are using gasoline. With a car running on propane, you will not only be saving money but also reducing your contribution to pollution. You are driving green.
In considering propane conversion kits for cars, you need to make sure it is EPA certified. In 1997, EPA passed a regulation mandating that all vehicles converted from gasoline to alternative fuels such as propane must use only certified EPA kits. In this day and age, make sure you are getting what you paid for.
Propane conversion kits will require a Fuel Tank that meets transport authority specifications. These regulation tanks have above average rupture resistance and are very durable. In case of a rear-end collision, you don't want the tank exploding. That is why your Gas Tank is designed the way it is.
Let's examine the myth that propane will make your engine lose power. This is possible with some kits. However, if you use a dedicated carburetor conversion kit to propane, you will not lose power. The propane is delivered into the engine just the way gasoline is introduced. Most good kits will use a oversized demand regulator for better engine performance.
I hear that if I run propane through my engine it will run hotter and burn my valves. This is definitely not true. Since propane is lower in BTU's than gasoline, it will run just as cool as running on gasoline. Naturally, it has to be set correctly for the proper air to fuel mixture. Sounds just like running gasoline through your engine.
Will converting my gasoline engine to propane void my warranty? Yamaha and Mitsubishi are more lenient regarding this. The other manufacturers have not truly said what they will do. If your warranty is already passed, then this isn't an issue for you.
How hard is it to do the conversion? If you can put a swing together or install a light switch by following the directions, you probably could do it yourself. For me, I am not that secure in my mechanical abilities but if I have a friend who is mechanically incline, then this little project could be completed on a Saturday afternoon.

The electrical system was unusual in 1906, and was fitted when the yard was able to build the tug for substantially less than the estimated cost. Both are sheathed with tongue-and-groove planking. Windows are sash units designed to drop into self-draining metal pockets in the bulkheads. Connecting car amplifier directly to 12 volt battery?
I need to connect a 600 watt marine amplifier directly to a 12 volt deep cycle battery. This system won't be mounted into a vehicle but onto a trailer pulled by a bicycle and therefore won't be wired through a vehicle's electrical system and the signal will come from an iPod. I would like to ad a power switch between the battery and the amp. The amp is a Pyle PLMRA220 which has connectors for +12V battery, REM and ground. Can I loop from the battery to the +12v connector and then back to the battery from the REM connector on the amp? Is there something else need between the battery and the amp that would allow me to do this?
Connect the power (+) as normal and put a switch between the power (+) and REM wire connection. You may want to put a fuse between the battery and amp as close to the battery as possible. The fuse rating should be the same value as all fuses on the amp.
