Acidity Cure - Easy and Effective Herbal Treatments

Acidity is quite a simple problem when it begins, but it can get out of hand easily if not taken seriously. It is a common ailment and results from a wrong diet. The excessive secretion of hydrochloric acid in the stomach causes acidity. Prolonged acidity can cause chronic indigestion, arthritis, gout, ulcers and even false angina pains.

Acidity tends to have a much higher incidence in highly emotional and nervous individuals. It is also more common in the developed and industrialized nations.

What are the symptoms?

The main symptoms of acidity are:

• Dyspepsia and heartburn

• Discomfort, burning sensation in the upper part of the gut area, especially after eating.

• Regurgitation of the gastric contents

• loss of appetite

• nausea, vomiting

• feeling of sickness

• flatulence accompanied by burping

• constipation

Causes of acidity:

Acidity may be caused by many conditions such as:

# Medical conditions, such as gastroesophageal reflux disease, stomach ulcers

# Hyperthyroidism - excessive secretion of the thyroid gland.

# Anxiety, anger and stress.

# Constipation, flatulence or intestinal gases.

# Artificial stimulants or the thought of nearing the food time can create acidity.

# Excessive intake of stimulants like tea, coffee etc.

# Excessive intake of fried foods, spicy or pungent food,

# As a side-effect of some drugs used for treating other illnesses

# Overeating along with bad food combinations. Overeating puts extra load on the stomach, liver, kidneys.

# Eating too rapidly, therefore improper salivation of food.

# Excessive smoking, intake of alcohol

# Tendency to eat and drink together

# Insomnia

# Lack of exercise.

# Long gaps between meals leads to acidity, as it gives the acid in the stomach more time to act.

How is acidity treated?

Try to identify and avoid foods that disagree with the digestive system. Also, try not to eat too quickly and avoid stress.

Some people need to be given drugs to control their condition.

Medicines to treat acidity include:

• Antacids, which neutralize the acid in the stomach.

• Acid suppressants, which reduce the amount of acid produced by the stomach.

What type of diet should be followed?

# Avoid canned and junk food, artificially ripened fruits and vegetables or those kept in cold storage. Eat seasonal fruits and vegetables.

# Avoid a heavy intake of spices and aerated drinks that are highly acidic and strong enough to dissolve teeth and bones.

# Cold beverages with or after meals should be particularly avoided. Cold drinks dilute the enzymes and put stress on the digestive system. As a result, the food gets fermented leads to acidity.

# Avoid excess smoking, tea and coffee. Both nicotine and caffeine are directly related to problems of acidity. Instead, take coconut water, Fresh Water melon, cucumber juice and thin-skinned lemons because these are alkaline.

# Bitter gourd, amla (Indian gooseberry) juice is an excellent remedy for acidity.

# Benign lactic acid present in buttermilk, yoghurt are helpful. Raita prepared with fresh curd, grated cucumber, fresh coriander, tomato is a sure shot remedy in aiding digestion, and helps remove acidity.

# If you are overweight, lose some immediately. Those who are overweight put too much pressure on the esophageal sphincter, which leads to reflux of the contents of the stomach into the oesophagus, and heartburn follows.

# Drink plenty of water, as it aids digestion and helps flush out toxins. Eat only when hungry because digestive juices are released in the stomach only when one is hungry.

# Go green. Green leafy vegetables and sprouts contain vitamins B and E that facilitate the elimination of acids from the body.

# Get moving! Not enough physical activity means not enough sweat, which in turn results in uric acid being deposited in the body.

# Avoid stress and get adequate amount of sleep. Insomnia disturbs the digestive system.

# Bring about a change in food and habits that is conducive to overall good health.

Some home remedies to treat and prevent acidity -

i. Mix 1 teaspoon cumin seeds, 1/4 teaspoon methi seeds, 1/4 tsp mustard seeds, 1/2 tsp ajwain seeds. Roast them on a low flame. Add a pinch of hing (asafetida) and salt and stir for a minute. Grind to a powder when cool and store. Mix 1/2 tsp of powder with 1 teaspoon of curd. Eat twice a day for quick relief.

ii. Pineapple acts as a tonic and relieves digestive disorders. Half a glass of fresh pineapple juice should be taken after a meal for treating and preventing acidity.

iii. Eat almonds to give relief to symptoms of acidity.

iv. Chewing of a carrot increases saliva and quickens digestion by supplying the digestive system with necessary enzymes, minerals and vitamins. The juice of carrot is also beneficial.

v. A very simple remedy for acidity is thin butter-milk mixed with 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper powder. For better results, an equal quantity of cumin (jeera) powder and rock salt is to be added to the buttermilk.

vi. A piece of jaggery or gur after lunch and dinner prevents acidity.

vii. Take one piece of clove and suck it slowly. This will give you relief from acidity.

viii. Eat a cup of vanilla ice cream or drink a glass of cold milk to get heartburn and acidity relief within minutes

No. A grate would impede the airflow and it would also tend to ice up at high altitude.

Option Expiration and Exercise

Beginning options traders often make costly mistakes due to either a lack of knowledge or misinformation about the basic parameters of options and their exercise. Examples of common errors include being surprised that one is unable to close an index option position on the Friday before expiration, or being surprised by an unhedged option exercise during expiration. This paper covers some of the basic concepts surrounding option expiration and how options are exercised. Be sure you understand the settlement, exercise, and expiration characteristics of the options you trade.

Option Expiration

Equity options expire on the Saturday following the third Friday of each month. It is common to hear or read that equity options expire on that third Friday. While that isn’t technically correct, it is true that Friday is the last opportunity to trade those options. Saturday expiration was established to give the brokerages time to settle the accounts before the options technically (legally) lose their value.

However, some (but not all) index options cease trading at the close on the Thursday prior to expiration and those positions are reconciled on Saturday based upon the settlement price established on Friday. For example, the SPX index options cannot be traded after the close on the Thursday before expiration; but the settlement price, usually reported as SET or $SET, is established Friday morning based on the opening price of each of the 500 S&P stocks. Since many stocks do not open immediately at the opening bell, the settlement price will differ from the SPX opening price on Friday.

Option Exercise

The owner of an equity option has the right to buy or sell 100 shares of the underlying stock anytime before expiration. If you are long the option (i.e., you originally bought it), you may or may not choose to exercise the option you own; it is entirely your choice. If you are short the option (i.e., you originally sold the option), it may be exercised against you at any time. Typically, you will receive an email from your broker after the market close, notifying you of the exercise. You may be exercised for only a portion of your option position, e.g., only 2 of your 10 contracts. If you were short call options, you will now see a short stock position in your account, i.e., you were obligated to sell the stock at the strike price. If you were short put options, the exercise forces you to buy stock at the strike price, resulting in a long stock position in your account.

When options contracts are first created, exercise is specified in one of two different ways: American style or European style. American style options can be exercised on any business day prior to expiration, whereas European style options can only be exercised at expiration. All equity options are subject to exercise American style, while most index options are European style, e.g., the SPX. But there are some exceptions with a small number of index options settling American style, e.g., the OEX.

Upon expiration, your broker will automatically exercise any expiring options in your account that are $0.05 or more ITM (in the money) in accordance with Options Clearing Corporation regulations. If expiration is approaching and the stock price is near your strike price, and you do not want to hold either the long or short stock position that will result from the exercise of your long option, sell the option before the market closes on the Friday of expiration week. If you are holding a European style index option position and wish to close it before expiration, be sure to complete those orders before the market closes on Thursday before expiration. If you wish to exercise any of your long equity options, you must issue an order to your broker before the market closes on the Friday of expiration week. It is generally good practice to close option positions before expiration to avoid unpleasant surprises.

Option spread positions always have a short option position by definition, so they are subject to exercise at any time. However, the long option protects you in this situation, e.g., if I am holding a 10 contract spread and I receive a notice of exercise from my broker for 3 of the short options, I simply ask my broker to exercise 3 of my long options to cover the exercise.

In practice, it is rare that your short option positions will be exercised against you before expiration. But, as noted above, your long option position protects you against this exercise. In general, put options are rarely exercised unless there is less than $0.10 of time value left in the option. The same is true of call options with one major exception: calls are often exercised just before a stock goes ex-dividend, e.g., if the call has $0.10 of time value remaining, but the dividend is $0.50 per share, it may be advantageous to the option owner to exercise the option and hold the stock through the ex-dividend date to collect the dividend payment. Sometimes an option will be exercised against you in a situation where it makes no sense whatsoever and is probably a mistake or due to inexperience of the person on the other side of the trade.

If you are holding a vertical spread position going into expiration, there are several different situations possible. If both of the options are fully in the money, your broker will automatically exercise both of the long and short options and credit your account with the spread amount less commissions. However, if the stock price closes expiration Friday within the spread, the situation is a little tricky and the results may surprise you. For example, if we were holding a bull call spread, the short OTM call will expire worthless and the broker will exercise the long call on your behalf, resulting in shares of stock in your account the following Monday (and perhaps a call from your broker if your account does not have sufficient cash to buy the stock). If you do not want to purchase the stock, you should close the spread before the market close on the Friday of expiration week.

Credit spreads can also result in surprises at expiration. For example, if I hold a bull put spread and the underlying stock closes Friday of expiration week at a price within the spread, my short put options will be exercised against me, resulting in a long stock position in my account. The long put option does not protect me because it expired worthless.

In general, if the stock price closes on expiration Friday within the strike prices of my vertical spread, it will result in either a long stock position or a short stock position in my account the following Monday. Unless you are willing to hold that stock position, it is usually best to close the spread on Friday. Many traders adopt a general rule of closing all option positions the week before expiration to avoid the surprises that are all too common the week of expiration.

MIL-1553- What does it mean?

MIL-1553 was originally issued by the Department of Defense for military applications. It defines standards for functional, mechanical and electrical characteristics of the serial data bus commonly used in the avionics of military aircraft. It was developed when the integration of computers systems into military aircraft became imminent. Prior to employment of the data bus for digital communications, transmissions were carried through cables. Erwin Gangl one of the earliest scientists to work on this project set up a method to facilitate digital communications among all avionics systems, such as radar navigation and data displays by employing the serial data bus, rather than miles of cable.

First seen in the 70's on military fighter jets, it is has both military and civil applications. The standard covers the data bus and all associated interface electronics. 1533 governs bus and terminal operation, data flow, error handling, hardware and wiring. Although new technology would seem to threaten its longevity, durability of 1533 can be attributed to its vast international installed base. With so many installations, manufacture of compliant systems is still good business. So what is the scope of MIL-1533 and what does it mean in avionics?

Testing

To be 1533 compliant, all components must to work properly under all environmental conditions to which it will be subjected. Consider its application for devices used on spacecraft which will be subjected to temperature and electrical field extremes. MIL-1533 does not specify the environmental conditions for testing. These will be determined by the intended use of the specific device employing the multiplex data bus.

Operations and Messaging

1533 defines data flow, error handling and terminal operations requirements. A uniform approach to message transmission, data and error handling bus components and the associated interfaces, assures interoperability. Specifically, multiplex data bus systems must function asynchronously in command/response mode, with transmission occurring in half-duplex. Information transmission control resides solely with the bus controller. Messages are formed by specified command, data, and status words. The standard provides a high degree of interoperability. Standard interchangeability makes maintenance manageable and allows for a fair amount of innovation in employing various 1533-compliant components.

Hardware

Beyond the two-conductor, twisted, shielded, jacketed cable requirement, the standard defines impedance, attenuation, termination and stub requirements. This section also governs the noise emitted by operations as well the tolerance of data transmissions for noise in the environment. Given the challenging environments in which avionics components operate, strict standards must be employed with the physical construction of the data bus and associated electronics.

Redundancy

All standards for testing operations and hardware apply in their entirety to all redundant systems. There are additional requirements to isolate the redundant components to avoid a failure of one eliminating the other as a viable back-up and support a high degree of fault tolerance. In general, the standard provides for only one data bus being active at a time. The redundancy standards in MIL-1533 are flexible enough to accommodate a variety of applications while still maintaining integrity in redundancy.

98 Yamaha Jet boat,1200 does anyone know how to seperate Drive Shaft.?

I am trying to seperate the drive shaft from the engine coupler hub. Are they threaded or pop apart.

I don't really understand what you are trying to do but I will do my best.

On the engine crankshaft there is a pto coupler that is threaded on. This mates to another coupler that is threaded to the mid shaft. The pump driveshaft slides into the back of the midshaft.

The engine side coupler is the easier of the two to remove. You need to lock up the motor by either stuffing a rag through the exhaust or threading some rope into the sparkplug hole. With one cylinder locked up, you need a chain wrench to remove the coupler. I have also heard of using a piece of wood that fits between the coupler "teeth" and loosening it that way.

I'm not sure why you would need to remove the midshaft coupler but you do it the same way but using a spline holder tool instead.

Waverunner Carb Rebuild

I have a 90 Waverunner 500 trying to pull a wakeskater. It worked once. Now it won't pull as well.?

We went out and tested it. It pulled a 150lb rider once, but on the second attempt on it would pull about 30 feet and then he would sink. Is there an adjustment I can make. It is strong without pulling someone but the power is not there when someone is behind it. Also, it will only plane with one person and one child. I only weigh 150 and my woman is only 110 and we can't ride at the same time, is that right or is something wrong? I have rebuilt the carb and cleaned it, I also replaced the Fuel Filter and lines as well as the gas. Impeller is in good condition. Is there any adjustment to the floater or something to get more power? Please Help!

Well, the others are right, but you should not be doint that with a little machine like that. It's not safe or good for the PWC. Legally you need a spotter and a 3 person machine where I live. The 500 was the smallest sit down ever made, and they are weaklings to start. Invest in a larger machine.
